FIFA World Cup 2022 Saudi Arabia Team Preview
Saudi Arabia triumphed in a group that included Australia and Japan.
Saudi Arabia didn’t lose frequently, but they did in Japan. Despite being unwell, the “B-team” tied 0-0 with an American club that was nearly full strength in September.
On paper, the group appears to function well together. Only one of the three Saudi Pro League teams has a complete squad (Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr or Al-Shabab).
Everyone is in the same league, which is fantastic, however the league isn’t really good. The AFC Champions League has been won four times by Al-Hilal, however it is not as excellent as the finest leagues in Europe.
These individuals are part of a wider group. Yasser Al-Shahrani (thigh), Salman Al-Faraj (ankle), and Muhammad Al-Owais (foot) were all injured and unable to play in Saudi Arabia’s September friendly (calf). Abdulelah Al-Malki has been unable to play since early February due to an ACL injury.
If Salem Al-Dawsari so desires, he has the ability to make life difficult for the left. Saudi Arabia’s last six World Cup qualification games have all resulted in a goal. He has 66 caps now that he is 31 years old.
Our Prediction about Saudi Arabia at FIFA World Cup 2022
Saudi Arabia has not qualified for back-to-back World Cups since the 1990s and early 2000s. They seek to avoid the first round, unlike in 2018.
Saudi Arabia’s next game, on December 3 in Al Rayyan, will be against the club that finished second in Group D. This might be in reference to France, Australia, Denmark, or Tunisia. France and Denmark are the teams to beat in Group D. If the Saudis advance, they will be in a group alongside the Netherlands, England, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Portugal, and Uruguay.
Things will grow worse if Saudi Arabia comes in second place. Only England, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, and Brazil advanced when France replaced Denmark in the round of 16.
Salem Al-Dawsari has appeared in 66 games for Herve Renard’s club, scoring 17 goals. He has the same number of goals as another Saudi player (17). Al-Dawsari scored the game-winning goal in extra time in the World Cup group stage match between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. It is the team’s first World Cup victory since 1994.
Saudi Arabia is having difficulty scoring. Firas Al-Buraikan, 22, is their strongest scoring option, although others believe he might be better served on the bench. On the international scene, Al Buraikan has six goals for his country, Qatar.
Hervé Renard, who has previously won the Africa Cup of Nations, will manage his country in the World Cup finals for the second time. He was in charge of Morocco in Russia four years ago. Since taking over as Saudi Arabia’s coach, the 53-year-old Frenchman has used a 4-2-3-1 style. Six of his teammates are from domestic teams.
How many players will be in Saudi Arabia’s World Cup squad?
Because the COVID-19 virus was so prevalent last summer, teams were limited to 26 participants for the European Championship. The Copa America, on the other hand, has the option of inviting 28 players.
Each national team’s roster will increase from 23 to 26 players for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
How Many Football World Cups has Saudi Arabia won?
Saudi Arabia has competed in the FIFA World Cup six times since its inception in 1994. They have three AFC Asian Cup victories, in 1984, 1988, and 1996.
How far will Saudi Arabia go? The only way to find out is to watch them play. Make sure you don’t miss it!
