World Cup 2026 Group B Standings
The standings below update live as results come in. The top two teams advance, plus the best third-placed teams across the groups. Switzerland won Group B on seven points. Canada finished second on four. Bosnia and Herzegovina also took four and went through as one of the best third-placed teams, ahead of Qatar, who finished bottom on one.
FIFA changed the tiebreakers for 2026. If teams finish level on points, head-to-head results now come first. The order is head-to-head points, then head-to-head goal difference, then head-to-head goals scored. If teams are still level, FIFA uses overall goal difference, then overall goals scored, then the fair play record, and finally the FIFA ranking.
Group B Results
Canada opened with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina at BMO Field. Bosnia led through a first-half Lukić goal. Substitute Cyle Larin equalized in the 78th minute. It gave Canada their first ever World Cup point, and their first on home soil.
In Santa Clara, Qatar drew 1-1 with Switzerland. Breel Embolo scored a first-half penalty for the Swiss. Qatar levelled deep in stoppage time. A Boualem Khoukhi header, recorded by FIFA as a Miro Muheim own goal, earned Qatar their first ever World Cup point.
On June 18, Canada made history. They beat Qatar 6-0 in Vancouver against ten men. Jonathan David scored a hat-trick. Cyle Larin, Nathan-Dylan Saliba, and an own goal completed the win. It was Canada’s first win at a men’s World Cup and the biggest by a CONCACAF nation in tournament history. Switzerland kept pace by beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 in Los Angeles, Johan Manzambi scoring twice.
On June 24, Switzerland beat Canada 2-1 in Vancouver to win the group. Rubén Vargas struck early in the second half and Johan Manzambi added a second, with Promise David pulling one back for Canada. In Seattle, Bosnia and Herzegovina beat Qatar 3-1 through Kerim Alajbegović, an own goal, and Ermin Mahmić, a result that sent Bosnia through and left Qatar bottom.
